Gilgandra Shire Council is seeking a Trainee Water & Sewer Operator to join our Infrastructure team!
- Permanent full time - 38 hours per week
- Rostered day off every fortnight - an extra 22 days off a year!
- Weekly pay cycle
- Salary range $564.40 - $1154.20
ABOUT THE ROLE
Council currently has an excellent opportunity to gain valuable on the job employment skills whilst undertaking a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations.
This traineeship presents an opportunity to earn money while completing a nationally recognised qualification and gain practical experience assisting with the operation, maintenance and repair of Council’s water supply and wastewater systems. This industry is experiencing a significant skill shortage throughout Australia, and the completion of this qualification will open numerous career opportunities.
Council will fund all related training expenses and offer a range in wages in accordance with the salary structure depending on age, acquired skills and experience.
This is a 24 month fixed term, employment is for the length of the traineeship.

ABOUT YOU
Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications:
- Class C Driver Licence
- Possess a genuine interest in water and sewerage treatment and reticulation
- Possess a genuine commitment to complete the traineeship within the required timeframes
- Ability to commence Certificate III in Water Industry Operations
- Positive attitude to work and a willingness to work as a team, to help others and to learn
- Punctual and a good attendance record
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to complete time and plant sheets
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills
- WHS Construction Induction (White Card) or completion prior to employment
- Basic understanding of water and sewer treatment concepts and principals
- Completion of year 10 schooling or above
- Possess an interest in civil construction, operating plant, and or plumbing
